The ethnic intergration policy was introduced as it was observed that there were many people from the same ethnic race living together in the same block. The policy puts a limit on the proportion of races living together in the same block. This promotes racial intergration and harmony. By living together in the same neighbourhood, it will provide opportunities for people to interact. With greater interaction, understanding of racial and religious beliefs, friendships can be forged and this will help to bond Singaporeans together.
